Scripture Reading : Acts 18:1-11  Rev Dyan Dietz

1 After this Paul left Athens and went to Corinth. 2 There he found a Jew named Aquila, a native of Pontus, who had recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had ordered all Jews to leave Rome. Paul went to see them, 3 and, because he was of the same trade, he stayed with them, and they worked together—by trade they were tentmakers. 4 Every sabbath he would argue in the synagogue and would try to convince Jews and Greeks. 5 When Silas and Timothy arrived from Macedonia, Paul was occupied with proclaiming the word, testifying to the Jews that the Messiah was Jesus. 6 When they opposed and reviled him, in protest he shook the dust from his clothes and said to them, “Your blood be on your own heads! I am innocent. From now on I will go to the Gentiles.” 7 Then he left the synagogue and went to the house of a man named Titius Justus, a worshiper of God; his house was next door to the synagogue. 8 Crispus, the official of the synagogue, became a believer in the Lord, together with all his household; and many of the Corinthians who heard Paul became believers and were baptized. 9 One night the Lord said to Paul in a vision, “Do not be afraid, but speak and do not be silent; 10 for I am with you, and no one will lay a hand on you to harm you, for there are many in this city who are my people.” 11 He stayed there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.

SUPPORT UM ARMY

Family and Friends,

Please consider participating in our middle and high school mission camp fundraiser.  If this summer’s camps are also impacted like 2020’s, fundraising is the only way we will keep our 41 year old organization alive. Typically we fundraise to keep our costs low for our students. However, your support is desperately needed as our reserves are depleted.

U.M. ARMY invites you and your family and friends to support U.M. ARMY missions and register for the U.M. ARMY Virtual Valentines 5K.

Register and participate to run a virtual 5K or one mile family fun walk the week of February 13-19th. Run from home, track your progress with your favorite app, and submit a screenshot of your time. Participants and sponsors will be invited to celebrate together at the closing ceremony on Zoom Saturday, February 20th at 6:00pm CST.

Participants will receive a package of U.M. ARMY swag, including a participation medal.

We will award prizes for winners of the following age brackets, for both male and female 5K participants: under 18, 19-35, 36-50, 51-65, and 65+

The cost is $50/participant or $100 per family. Sponsorships are available for $100 to be listed on the event webpage and recognized during the closing ceremony. After you register, you will receive an email from PayPal to complete your registration with a payment. You may also mail a check to U.M. ARMY, P.O. Box 12170, College Station, TX 77842. Please note that the registration system will not include the family discount, but your invoice will indicate the correct $100/family rate.

You may register or sponsor the event here. Please check the box for NXNW Texas, as this is our local U.M. ARMY region.

Note, if you are competing in the 5K, you will need to send a screenshot of your run time to scottatnip@umarmy.org by the end of the day on Feb 19, 2021.  If you don’t have an app to track your time, please communicate with Scott.

We hope you will share this event with your friends, family and Church. We have a Facebook Event to help you spread the word.

Thank you!

In His service,
Mark

UM ARMY 2020

U.M.ARMY!

Here’s what you need to know.

If you or your youth have never been U.M.ARMY, let me explain!

U.M.ARMY is an acronym which stands for United Methodist Action Reach-Out Mission by Youth. It is a week-long opportunity for youth and adults to experience Christian growth through mission, worship and fellowship. Participants combine their strengths to meet home repair and maintenance needs for low-income, elderly, and disabled homeowners who are physically or financially unable to make needed repairs for themselves.

U.M. ARMY Dates are June 21st thru 27th in Paris, Texas.

The cost is $250. If your youth needs financial assistance, please contact me.
A $50 deposit is required by April 5th. The entirety of the camp cost is due by May 24th.
Payments can be paid in full, or in parts. If you would like to set up a payment schedule, please contact me.
Most youth will have credits to go toward their camp cost from Pumpkin Patch, Trunk-or-Treat, and other activities. I will contact parents separately as numbers come in.

We need adults! Please prayerfully consider joining us for an amazing experience. If you need more information on what your role in this camp would be, please reach out. I would love to talk with you!

A mandatory Parent and Youth U.M. ARMY Meeting will take place on May 24th, at 4pm in place of Youth. Even if your child has been to camp before, please make it a priority to attend. I will be going over the new Cell Phone policy, and we will have a Q&A Session. All paperwork will be emailed to the parent contact in your youth’s Camp Sign Up. These forms need to be filled out and turned in at the meeting May 24th. More camp information is available upon request, on the U.M. ARMY website, or you can ask as many questions as you would like to at the Camp Meeting.

Please do not hesitate to call or email me for information or any questions.

Let’s make this fun…

Last year Trinity UMC brought 19 people to U.M. ARMY! We already have new students that did not attend last year sign up… Here is my challenge for you all. If we can have 20 people (including adults) register and have their $50 deposit paid for U.M.ARMY by April 5th, I will dye my hair whatever color you all choose!!

Choose Your Own Adventure:

A 4-LESSON SERIES ON THE 4 SPIRITUAL HABITS

Whether it’s a journey to Mordor, The Upside Down, outer space, or wherever Forky ran off to this time, we all love a great adventure story. Maybe that’s because, deep down, we know we’re designed to live an adventure story of our own — and with Jesus, we can. There is no greater adventure than the journey of knowing God more deeply, so in this 4-week series, we’ll talk about for ways we can do that: by spending time with God, spending time with others, sharing our stories, and using our gifts to serve others.

Influencer
A 4-WEEK SERIES ON WISDOM
Whether it’s Instagram, YouTube, TV, or movies, we are constantly surrounded by “influencers.” But in reality, we are all influencers because we all influence others in some way, whether we mean to or not. We’re all already influencers, but the question is, “What kind of influencers will we be?” In this 4-week series, we’ll learn from a few key influencers in the Bible about what real influencers are like. They’re humble (not arrogant), chase good (not evil), live small (and dream big), and tell God’s story (not just their own).
