Hello, Trinity Family!

I know this usually goes up on Monday, but DID YOU SEE THE GLORIA ON SUNDAY???? I needed a recovery day!

Here’s the link, in case you didn’t make it. Next time you see Tawny Rybowicz, tell her how great it was!

On to this week’s activities!

Missions Committee would like to thank everyone for all the donations for the Denton Wesley Foundation, and remind us that this week’s item is CEREAL. You can also bring any of the other items requested throughout the month – canned vegetables and tomatoes, instant rice and pasta, boxed macaroni and cheese.

This is also the Sunday to return your Operation Christmas Child box! Fill them up and bring them with you this week!

TRUNK OR TREAT is this Saturday, October 26, and WE STILL NEED MORE CARS! This is a major neighborhood outreach for our church, and we love to do it up big. Please, if you can, sign up HERE, and help us put on an amazing party!

Only 9 days left in the Pumpkin Patch! Shifts are still open, with the most pressing being this Thursday, 5 – 7, Saturday from 3 – 5, and next Tuesday (29th) from 5 – 7. Other shifts have only one person working, and it’s way more fun with a partner! Here’s the link to the sign-up, you know what to do!

Our annual Stewardship Campaign is wrapping up at the end of the month. Commitment Cards are available now, and the Stewardship Committee asks that they be completed and returned by Sunday, November 3. Watch for more information on this later in the week.

Have you heard? WE’RE HAVING AN ALL-CHURCH PICNIC! Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 9th at noon, and watch this space for more information!

Have I forgotten anything? Let me know if I did!

Have a great week, Trinity Family, and we’ll see you at THE WELL on Wednesday night!

The Week Ahead October 7 – 13

One October week, gone already! Time does fly when you’re a part of a loving, BUSY Church Family!

Let’s have a look at the week ahead:

KID’S NIGHT OUT is Friday, but signup closes on Wednesday!

This is a community event for ages 12 months through 5th grade.
Cost is $20 for the first child and $10 for each additional sibling.

Wednesday at THE WELL, Pastor Jim’s Conversational Christianity class (6:15 to 7:25 in the conference room) invites all to join them as they begin a new 6-week study series on the Bible, Sexuality, and the United Methodist church, by Pastor Rob Fuquay of St. Luke’s UMC in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The six-part video series evolved out of study sessions that Fuquay led in his church earlier this year. Unable to find United Methodist curriculum that addresses the handful of Bible passages used to form church policy, Fuquay developed his own, employing a Wesleyan approach to biblical interpretation.
Adapted from those church sessions, the video series is designed to help participants learn what the Bible says and then form their own opinions. All six parts allow ample time for thoughtful discussion, as well as moving faith stories of LGBTQ United Methodists and their family members.

The second PUMPKIN DELIVERY is scheduled for SATURDAY at 8am.

We had SO much fun last week unloading, let’s do it again!

Speaking of pumpkins, the 5 -7 shift from Tuesday through Friday and all

of Saturday afternoon are open. Sign up for a shift today!

The choir’s performance of Vivaldi’s Gloria isn’t until the 20th, but this Sunday, October 13th you can get a preview in the 11 am Worship Service, as they will bring us one selection during the Offertory.

This is also the week Missions is asking us to bring instant rice and pasta for the Wesley Foundation. Add them to your grocery list now!

Lots to do, as always! Keep an eye on Facebook and Twitter for updates and reminders,.

Have a wonderful, Blessed week, Trinity!

Many Hands Make Light Work

As the last of the music from Youth Sunday faded, the pumpkins rumbled into the parking lot.

Dozens of members of our Trinity Family turned out to help.

They carried and placed, piled and organized.

They dug right down to the bottom, to get the last pumpkins from the box.

In a few short hours, the truck was empty and the field was full.

Many hands make light work.
We thank ALL of our Family who stayed to help today!

The Pumpkins are Coming!

Please help us out this fall season by volunteering for the TUMC pumpkin patch. We will start shifts on Saturday, September 28th and end on October 31st. We need at least one adult to work each shift for safety reasons. Youth will not be able to work a shift without an adult present. Sign up for as many shifts as you’d like. Thanks so much!!!!!

Feeding The One Who Fed Me

During the month of January, 2018, I had the privilge of being in Virginia with my mother — the one who gave birth and life to me on January 17th, 1961. During my visit, she was not able to feed herself. I found myself feeding the one who fed me for so many years. She provided me with food, shelter, clothing, and education. She fed me even more by giving to me the Bread of Heaven. She offered to me the knowledge of God’s love fully revealed in Jesus Christ. She planted seeds of faith within my heart which would later be interpreted as a call to ministry. My mother was present to hear my borning cry. She witnessed my baptism, college and seminary graduations, and my ordination.

I will be with her again this  coming Labor Day weekend. She has asked me to be present with her, and to pray with her. By God’s grace, I plan to fly to Virginia on August 28th and return on Sunday afternoon, September 1st.

Rev. Richard Laster has graciously agreed to officiate at all three services of Word and Table. Richard and Susan are yet another gift of God’s unfailing grace and spiritual enrichment to Trinity UMC.

Vivaldi’s Gloria-Coming Fall 2019

In 2019, the Music Ministry at Trinity will perform the entire masterwork of Gloria by Antonio Vivaldi.  The Chancel Choir has already started learning some of the music.  They sang one piece this past Sunday at the 11am service and I am so proud of them!  Take a listen!
